What can I do to help prevent advertising television from having their ads turned up so loud?
We even mute them but the sound automatically comes on again showing that the company is going to insist that they are heard (at that high level) whether we want it or not. We are a pensioner couple who sleep at different times and the level of noise from ads causes us a lot of discomfort. Sudden bursts of loud jingles are very startling. This is noise polution!
Thanks so much for that – will have to get some of the grandchildren to find it for us!
A lot of modern tv’s have a setting called stable sound which helps to level the volume for that reason. Look in the audio settings in your tv’s menu.

I agree, but in my case…I blame the cable provider for mine. It seems that every channel is at a different sound level. It’s gotten so that we just mute all commercials and station breaks…so whose losing out, now?
