Can I use mona lisa potrait for photo manipulation and print it for advertising purposes (film festival)?


As long ago as the image was created it’s in the public domain now. So the answer is yes.

  2. Yup, once work enters the public domain, it belongs to YOU. You own the intellectual rights to it, and so does everyone else. Only possible way you could do something illegal, is to reproduce the thing and try to pass it off as a genuine painting (fraud).
